One of my favorite things about throwing a party for my friends is the opportunity to have fun and DIY the event decor.  It really can bring the party to life and lets you personalize the whole look and theme.   Here, I have taken Scotch Colors and Patterns Duct Tape to create playful, colorful and simple to make event decor.  You can find the tutorial for each project after the break...
- Scotch Colors and Patterns Duct Tape
- Scissors
- Thread
- Sewing Needle
- Tissue Paper
- Baker's Twine
- 2 BBQ Skewers

1. Cut a piece of duct tape about 14" long and stick it to the tissue paper.
2. Cut out the duct tape.
3. Then, cut the duct tape in half.
4. Thread the sewing needle, and double knot one end.  Weave the sewing needle in and out of the cut duct tape (as shown in photo).
5.  Once you reach the other end of the duct tape, ruche the tape to about half the length.  Then, double knot the thread.  Stick 2 bbq skewers into the cake, and tie the ruched tape onto the skewers using a small piece of baker's twine.
- Scotch Colors and Patterns Duct Tape
- Scissors
- Cake Pop Stick
- Cardstock
- Permanent Marker

1. Draw a flag on a piece of paper that is proportionate to the size of your cupcake.  Cut out the flag.
2. Mark a dot on the cake pop stick, then measure the height of the flag.
3. Cut a piece of duct tape that is larger than your flag. Stick your marked cake pop stick near the right sticky side (as seen in the photo).
4. Press the sticky side of the duct tape onto a piece of card stock.
5.  Trace the flag onto the duct tape using a permanent marker.  Then, cut out the flag and cake pop stick.
- Scotch Colors and Patterns Duct Tape
- Scissors
- Straws
- Tissue Paper

1. Cut a piece of duct tape about 5 1/2" long. Stick the cut tape onto the tissue paper, leaving about 1/4" of the sticky side exposed, then cut the whole piece out.
2. Cut skinny fringe just below the sticky end of the tape.
3. Stick the cut fringe tape onto the straw about 1 1/2" from the top of the straw.
4. Spread the fringe apart, pushing some pieces to the top and some to the middle to resemble a pom pom.
