DIY | REPURPOSED CRATE COFFEE TABLE

6.24.2013
Here's another sneak peek of my new DIY series where I hang out and DIY with fellow bloggers and style experts. For this first one, I wanted to create a beautiful picnic space and when I found this amazing crate and table legs at a vintage store, I knew what my next DIY would be. I repurposed the pieces and built a coffee table with a few easy steps. I love the gilded column legs against the worn in crate.  Full tutorial after the break...
Materials:
- vintage wooden crate
- 4 table legs
- wood screws
- power drill

Steps:
1. Place the table legs at each of the 4 corners of the inside of the crate.
2. Using the power drill and one wood screw at a time, screw down each leg to the crate. Each leg should take a couple screws. Make sure the wood screw you purchase, is shorter than the thickness of the crate.
3. Continue screwing in all legs.

You really are so creative and resourceful :) When I was redecorating my family room, I was looking for a rugged wooden table like this...almost willing to spend major $$$ for one from Restoration Hardware and the likes. And here you are making a gorgeous one!

This is a great idea but I think since the legs themselves are so nice I would have used them somewhere they would be seen. Substituting them for plain square cut wooden legs wouldn't detract at all from this project and these legs could be included in something a bit more elegant.
