DIY | RHINESTONE STATEMENT EARRINGS

5.12.2013
When the lovely editors at Lucky Magazine approached me to come up with a few spring DIY's, I instantly thought of a statement earring. It is a such great accessory that can add a little color and glam to your face and outfit. Here's how to make a really easy pair at home. Full tutorial after the break...

Materials:
- Rhinestone Gem (pronged setting with one hole)
- Rhinestone Earring Stud
- Beading Wire
- Round Nose Pliers
- Wire Cutter
- E6000 Adhesive

Steps:
1. Cut a length of wire about 5” long. Wrap the wire around the round nose plier to create a loop. Slide the rhinestone gem into the wire loop.
2. Wrap one end of the wires around the second wire, as photoed. Cut excess wire.
3. Create a similar loop using the on the other end of the wire about a ¼” away from the first loop. Cut excess wire.
4. Add a dab of e6000 to the back of the earring and slide the wire loop from step 3 earring post, as photoed. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the second earring.

Thank you to the Lucky team for featuring my DIY! Find it here!

There are really cute! Since I've been wearing my hair natural I've been prone to smaller earrings for some reason. I feel like they make my fro look prettier I guess. I might see about trying to make some. I promised myself I'd make this summer the smmer of DIY. Any chance you can do a DIY on how to make Clip ones into Post earrings for those with pierced ears?

Very cute. I'm trying to get a grasp on rhinestones at the moment so I'm grateful for the instructions.

I feel the same. The larger earrings when I leave my hair curly feels a bit overwhelming on me too. These are for pierced ears, but you can create the same look with these clip on converters: http://www.amazon.com/Clip--Earring-Converter-Pair-Turn/dp/B007X5M55I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368643532&sr=8-1&keywords=stud+clip+on+earrings

Hope this helps!
