My first job in the industry was as a denim designer and through that experience, I learned to appreciate great fabric and fit. When AG Jeans approached me to collaborate on a DIY, I was completely ecstatic. I have been a fan of theirs for years and their Legging in Super Skinny is by far my favorite fit. As we discussed our collaboration, we discovered we both were loving the embellished and studded denim trend from the latest runways shows, like these from Isabel Marant (here and here). Here is how you can stud a pair of denim on your own. Full tutorial after the break...
(Outfit: Aritzia top, Theyskens Theory Pumps)
Materials:
- Studs (bought from Athenian Fashions)
- e6000 glue
- Tweezers
- Ruler
- White Colored Pencil
- Flathead Screwdriver
Steps:
1. Flatten the prongs on the back side of the studs using a flathead screwdriver.
2. Mark the placement of the studs using a ruler and colored pencil. I spaced mine out 3/4" apart and added a couple along the front pocket.
3. Apply a small amount of e6000 glue to the back side of the stud, and place onto the marked dots using the tweezers. Let dry fully.
*** NOTE: I have chosen to glue the studs on rather than push the prongs through the denim, in order to prevent the prongs from scraping my skin on the inside of the jeans. Also, when washing, turn the denim inside out and hang dry.

Love the look, but wouldn't it be sturdier if the studs were attached using the little prongs and not the glue?
Amphicyrtous : Thank you love! And really great point! I decided to push the prongs back then glue the studs on, so that the prongs do not scratch my skin. But e6000 is amazing and the glue will definitely keep the studs on.

Thank you so much love! They are pronged back studs with a curved cone shape. They are about 5/16" in size. I bought mine in downtown LA at Athenian Fashions, but if you don't live in the area try searching studs on etsy.
